Quick answer

The Simbacher Pfingstdult is a Pentecost Volksfest in Simbach am Inn (Lower Bavaria), running 21–27 May 2026 around the LOKschuppen / Zeiler festival grounds. Themed days run from club day and Nacht in Tracht through a traditional BC Simbach boxing bout and a children's afternoon, with online Festzelt reservation available. 'Dult' and 'Pfingstdult' are generic terms used by several Bavarian and Upper Palatinate towns for their own separate Pentecost fairs — the Simbacher Pfingstdult refers specifically to Simbach am Inn's own edition.

Pentecost Volksfest in Simbach am Inn at the LOKschuppen — 21–27 May 2026 with tents, rides, and themed programme days.

The Simbacher Pfingstdult is Simbach am Inn's Pentecost fair, run by Zeiler Volksfeste around the Dultplatz at the LOKschuppen. The 2026 edition runs 21–27 May, opening with a Tag der Vereine and building through a Nacht in Tracht costume evening, the traditional BC Simbach boxing bout on Pentecost Sunday, senior and children's afternoons, and live bands — the first full season in the newly rebuilt ZeilerZelt. Online Festzelt table reservations are available. The grounds are at Adolf-Kolping-Str. 19, 84359 Simbach a. Inn.

The full story

The Simbacher Pfingstdult turns the Dultplatz around Simbach am Inn's old LOKschuppen railway shed into a full week of Pentecost fairground life, run by the Zeiler family showman business. The 2026 edition runs Thursday 21 through Wednesday 27 May — a Tag der Vereine opener, a Nacht in Tracht costume evening, a Weißwurst breakfast paired with a Schafkopf card tournament, the traditional BC Simbach boxing exhibition on Pentecost Sunday, a discounted family day on Pentecost Monday, and senior and children's afternoons closing out the week. 2026 also marks the first full season in the newly rebuilt ZeilerZelt tent, marketed on improved acoustics and capacity.

"Dult" implies more than rides and a beer tent: a genuine Warenmarkt goods-market element runs alongside the fairground, the same tradition that gives Regensburg's and Munich's own Dulten their name. By local tradition, Simbach's own fair traces to an eighteenth-century predecessor at the town's old Kirchenplatz, though the format has changed twice since — a Rennbahn racetrack ground, then the current LOKschuppen-area Dultplatz from 2008 — so that older date describes a different fair, not this one's own founding. Sitting directly across the Inn from Braunau am Inn, Austria, the festival draws a genuine cross-border crowd, and its Pentecost Sunday boxing bout (BC Simbach vs. an invited club) is an unusually distinctive fixture for a Volksfest of this size. See Simbacher Pfingstdult page or explore Lower Bavaria.

History

A predecessor Jahrmarkt is dated to 1779 on Simbach's old Kirchenplatz, but the event has changed format and location twice since — moving to the Rennbahngelände, then in 2008 to the current LOKschuppen-area Dultplatz — so 1779 is not treated as this Dult's own founding year. In its current form, it has run annually under Zeiler Volksfeste since at least 2008.
