Quick answer
Spiesheimer Bierfest is a beer festival in Unterspiesheim, Bavaria. It runs from May 8–11, 2026. Club-run Franconian village tent at the DJK hall — live bands, Mother’s Day family afternoon, and a Monday wind-down.
Authentic Franconian village Bierfest by DJK Unterspiesheim — tent next to the sports hall, four days of local bands.
The 39th Spiesheimer Bierfest returns 8–11 May 2026 in the Festzelt at the DJK Sporthalle in Unterspiesheim. Sport club DJK Unterspiesheim runs the show: Friday night party with Brass Brachial and DJ Anto (doors 20:30; first 100 guests Freibier), Saturday with Original Oberspiesheimer and Werntal Spatzen (free entry until 20:00), Mother's Day Sunday with Frühschoppen, Mittagstisch, cake buffet, and Familientag, then Monday wind-down with Nudelberg Sextett and a Schlemmerteller. Beer comes from Brauerei Friedrich Düll of Krautheim, near Volkach — a family brewery dating to 1654, branded locally as 'Krautheimer.' Expect classic rural Franconian tent energy rather than a tourist mega-fest.
The full story
Spiesheimer Bierfest fills a Festzelt beside the DJK Sporthalle in Unterspiesheim — the largest Ortsteil of the municipality Kolitzheim, in Bavaria's Schweinfurt district — for four days each May, run entirely by the local sports club, SV DJK Unterspiesheim. The 2026 edition, its 39th, runs Friday 8 through Monday 11 May: Friday opens as a band-and-DJ party from 20:30, with the first 100 guests getting free beer; Saturday layers two live bands back to back with free entry until 20:00; Sunday, timed to Mother's Day, is the festival's family day, built around a Frühschoppen, lunch, a cake buffet, and a Familientag with a bounce castle; and Monday winds down gently with a single band and a Schlemmerteller food special. Beer comes from Brauerei Friedrich Düll, a family brewery in nearby Krautheim (Volkach) dating to 1654 and now in its fifth generation, poured under the local "Krautheimer" name.
The festival has run for decades — edition numbers trace back to at least the 30th edition in 2014 — with an acknowledged pause during the 2020–2022 pandemic years before organizers relaunched it as the 36th edition in 2023, continuing as a fixture since the late 1980s.
One distinction worth keeping straight: this is Unterspiesheim's Spiesheimer Bierfest, in Bavaria's Schweinfurt district — not the unrelated village of Spiesheim in Rheinhessen, Rhineland-Palatinate, which runs its own, wine-focused "Spiesheim Kerb" each year. Different place, different region, different drink. See Spiesheimer Bierfest page or explore Lower Franconia.
History
The Spiesheimer Bierfest has been a fixture of the Schweinfurt wine-and-beer country since the late 1980s. It reflects the Franconian tradition of village-level community festivals where the local sports club takes the lead in organizing what becomes the social highlight of the year for the surrounding villages.
