Open-air town festival in Neu-Ulm’s centre with live stages, DJs, club stands, and street food.
Neu-Ulm's Stadtfest is one of the city's calendar highlights: outdoor celebrating with several stages, live bands and music groups, DJ entertainment, numerous stands, and participating clubs and organizations. Augsburger Straße fills with food stands, Maßbier, and open-air music drawing visitors from Neu-Ulm, Ulm, and the region. The 2026 edition, originally set for 16 May, was cancelled by the city about two days out due to cold, wet Eisheiligen weather — the next confirmed edition is Saturday, 5 June 2027.
The full story
Neu-Ulm's Stadtfest turns the Bavarian Swabian city's compact downtown core — Rathausplatz, Petrusplatz, Johannesplatz, and the connecting Augsburger Straße and Ludwigstraße — into a car-free festival mile for a single Saturday each late spring. A typical edition opens around 11:00 with the mayor's ceremonial Fassanstich (keg-tapping) and a Weißwurstfrühstück on Rathausplatz, accompanied by the Stadtkapelle Neu-Ulm city band, then moves through an afternoon of children's activities along Augsburger Straße before building into an evening of live bands and DJ sets on Petrusplatz and Johannesplatz that run past midnight, closing with a ceremonial Zapfenstreich.
Unlike a fenced beer-tent Volksfest, this is an open street-and-square festival: food comes from stands run by local clubs and organizations rather than a single vendor, and Gold Ochsen, an Ulm-based brewery, supplies the beer served. Admission is free throughout.
The 2026 edition, originally scheduled for Saturday 16 May, was cancelled by the city roughly two days beforehand because of a cold, wet Eisheiligen weather pattern — a genuine outright cancellation, not a postponement. The next confirmed edition is Saturday, 5 June 2027. Visitors should note that Neu-Ulm sits on the Bavarian side of the Danube, directly across from its larger, separate twin city Ulm in Baden-Württemberg — the two share a joint tourism identity, but this festival is Neu-Ulm's own.
