Hamburger Fischmarkt München

The Hamburger Fischmarkt München is a touring pop-up, not a Bavarian-born tradition: the same Hamburg-based operator, WAGS Hamburg Events GmbH, stages near-identical fish-market events in multiple German cities, and Munich's Wittelsbacherplatz stop is now in its 27th local edition. For 2026 it runs 14–25 May — a full 12 days spanning both Ascension Day/Vatertag and Pentecost — with fresh North Sea specialties (Backfisch, Matjes, Nordseekrabben, smoked salmon, oysters, fish and chips) served from open-air stalls, plus a stage running live music from late afternoon.

It's a useful counter-programming stop on a beer-and-wine-heavy Bavarian events calendar: no beer or wine focus here, just coastal food in a central, high-footfall Munich location a short walk from the Englischer Garten. Best treated as a 30–60 minute lunch-or-dinner stop within a broader day in central Munich rather than a destination in its own right — there's no meaningful local history to the Munich stop beyond the operator's own long-running touring pattern.
