Quick answer

Sommerach's Weinfest der Winzer „Stil & Faszination" runs 10–13 July 2026 around the village fountain on Kirchplatz. First held in 1977, 2026 marks its 50th edition. Seven to eight local vintners and four restaurants serve Silvaner and Franconian cuisine; grounds entry is free, with wine, food, and a deposit-based souvenir cup paid per stand.

Best for
Mainschleife wine tourists, Silvaner lovers, and anyone wanting a milestone-year atmosphere — 2026 is a genuine 50th-edition jubilee for the festival itself, plus a separate 125th-anniversary tie-in for the local winegrowers' cooperative.
Booking urgency
Medium for Friday opening and weekend tables — small village, limited parking. Not to be confused with Sommerhausen's similarly-named Straßenweinfest or Sommerach's own spring Pfingstweinfest when planning around dates.

50th edition of Sommerach's Weinfest der Winzer „Stil & Faszination," 10–13 July 2026 around the village fountain on Kirchplatz — free entry, pay at stands.

Sommerach's Weinfest der Winzer „Stil & Faszination" runs 10–13 July 2026 around the Dorfbrunnen village fountain in the historic Altort. Seven to eight local winemakers pour alongside four Gastronomie operators serving Franconian food. Grounds entry is free; wine, food, and a souvenir festival cup are paid individually at each stand, with the cup carrying a small refundable deposit rather than a flat wristband fee. Program highlights include a Friday opening procession of the winemakers, guided vineyard and village-history walks on Saturday, a festival church service Sunday, and a family-and-seniors afternoon closing out Monday. This is a distinct event from Sommerhausen's similarly-named Straßenweinfest and from Sommerach's own separate, ticketed spring Pfingstweinfest.

The full story

Every July, the village fountain on Sommerach's Kirchplatz anchors four days of wine and Franconian food for the Weinfest der Winzer „Stil & Faszination." The 2026 edition, 10–13 July, marks the festival's 50th anniversary — seven to eight local vintners and four restaurant operators set up around the Altort, with a Friday opening procession, Saturday guided vineyard and village-history walks, a Sunday festival church service, and a Monday family-and-seniors afternoon. Grounds entry is free; wine, food, and a deposit-based souvenir cup are bought individually at each stand.

The festival's roots go back to 1977, when it started as a tent event near the old town gate. It moved to its current, more scenic fountain-square setting in 1983 — a relocation credited to Sommerach's own wine princess of the era, who went on to become the 1982 Deutsche Weinkönigin, working alongside the regional winegrowers' association and the town's mayor to make the case for the square. It's stayed there ever since.

Two other events share Sommerach's name and wine focus but aren't this one: Sommerhausen, a different town nearby, runs its own separately organized Straßenweinfest, and Sommerach's own winegrowers' cooperative runs a smaller, ticketed Pfingstweinfest each spring. That cooperative, Winzer Sommerach eG — Bavaria's oldest wine cooperative — happens to mark its own 125th anniversary in 2026, a coincidental second milestone folded into the same July weekend as the festival's 50th, but a genuinely separate one. See Weinfest der Winzer or explore Lower Franconia.

History

This festival was first held in 1977 as a tent event near the old town gate, then moved to its current setting around the village fountain in the historic Altort in 1983 — a relocation credited to Sommerach's own wine princess of the time, later Deutsche Weinkönigin, working with the regional winegrowers' association and the mayor. 2026 marks its 50th edition. It shouldn't be confused with two other, separate events: Sommerhausen's similarly-named Straßenweinfest, held in a different town by different organizers, and Sommerach's own Pfingstweinfest, a smaller, ticketed spring event run only by the local winegrowers' cooperative. Coincidentally, 2026 also marks 125 years since that same cooperative, Winzer Sommerach eG — Bavaria's oldest wine cooperative — was founded in 1901; the two anniversaries are being marked over the same festival weekend but are separate milestones.
