Volksfest Wallerfing

Every July, Wallerfing's Volksfestplatz fills for four days under the Förderverein Wallerfinger Volksfest, organized jointly with neighboring Buchhofen and Oberpöring. The 2026 edition, the 57th, runs Friday 10 through Monday 13 July: Friday's Abend der Betriebe kicks things off, Saturday's Festauszug parade — led by the Graf Arco-Valley brewery's ceremonial horse-drawn dray and drawing over 1,000 guest-club attendees — is the visual highlight, and Monday closes with a family-and-seniors afternoon. Grounds access is free; Festzelt food, drink, and rides are paid on site.

Sunday carries its own special billing in 2026: the Freiwillige Feuerwehr Wallerfing, the town's volunteer fire brigade, marks its own 125th anniversary as a featured guest of the festival — a separate institution's separate milestone, not the Volksfest's own age. No founding year for the Volksfest itself is documented; estimates exist, but none are sourced closely enough to state as fact, so the founding year stays unconfirmed rather than guessed.

Sunday afternoon also brings a genuine outlier for a village Volksfest: professional lumberjack-sport demonstrations behind the tent, timed alongside the fire-brigade programme. Monday's "Politischer Montag" closes the weekend with a long-running regional political rally that's drawn senior Bavarian politicians for years — a genuinely local tradition, if a partisan one, that's become as much a fixture of the festival's closing day as the Festzelt itself.
